The family of Lawrence and Vivian Bell Folkers grew with the birth of Bonnie on August 6, 1933 in Isabel, Kansas. In December, 1934, sister Mary Jane joined the family, and in October, 1935, the family moved to Reedley, California. Bonnie attended Washington Elementary, General Grant Junior High and graduated from Reedley High School in 1951.

She was active in music and sports. She married in 1951 and had two sons, Michael (1954) and Scott (1959). When Scott started school she returned to college full time and graduated from Fresno State magna cum laude in 1966 with a degree in English. She joined Kings Canyon Unified School District in 1967 as a teach- er at Citrus School in Orange Cove and, eight years later, transferred to the Reedley High School English Department where she worked until her retirement in 1997. Bonnie travelled widely with colleagues from the English Department. After her retirement she continued as a substitute teacher and served as a proctor of standardized tests at Reedley.

After a short illness, Bonnie passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Jane and her son Scott. She is survived by her son, Michael Lawrence, her brother and sister, Neil and Lela Folkers. Other survivors are Charlyn Hintergardt, Judy Warkentin, Wilma Humason and Virginia Carlson (dear friends who met regularly for lunch for over sixty years) and Elizabeth Hardcastle, an English Department colleague with whom she en- joyed many foreign trips.

On Friday, March 22 at ll:00 AM a memorial service will be held for Bonnie at Christ Lutheran Church on Frankwood Avenue in Reedley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Reedley High School Entre Nous Scholarship Fund.
