Elizebeth Lee Bartel, also known as Bette, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 in Reedley California. She was born to Leroy and Laura Buckingham in Medford Oregon on May 24, 1925. In 1969 she married Curt Bartel.  She lived and taught school in San Jose for 26 years.  After retirement, Curt and Bette moved to Dinuba from San Jose in 1980,  and it was at that time Bette became a member of Dinuba Mennonite Brethren Church. Bette was a very positive person, smart and witty, and lived her life with the joy of the Lord always present. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Curt Bartel, and a grandson Jason Wichert. She is survived by 3 step children and spouses, Sharon and Joel Vogt, Steve and Sue Bartel, DeeAnn and Glenn Hershberger; 6 grandchildren, Tricia Anspikian, Seana Wichert, Ryan Gerber, Matt Gerber, Amy Snyder, Kristin Lee, Kevin Bartel, as well as 12 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Palm Village Chapel at 10am. Donations may be made to Open Gate Ministries in Dinuba Ca.
