Consider joining Friends

of the Reedley Library

This is following up on the Oct. 26 article about the new Reedley Branch Library and the demolition of the existing old packing shed where it will be built. The article correctly states that the Friends of the Reedley Library will pay for the demolition and the disposal of any hazardous materials.

The Friends of the Reedley Library can do this only because of the endowment from the estate of Leola Aalto. Mrs. Aalto served on the Board of the Friends of the Reedley Library for many years. The library Friends are among other Reedley organizations that she believed in and funded. You’ll notice a plaque near the entrance of the library’s parking lot that honors her. Through investment of her gift, the endowment has grown enough to fund the demolition of the building that now occupies the site chosen to build the new and much larger Reedley library.

To achieve our goal of building a new library, we hope that users of the present library will consider becoming a member of the Friends of the Reedley Library and help us build a new building that will be approximately four times the size of our present library.
