The Immanuel High Eagles — in quest of a sixth consecutive Central Section boys basketball championship — drew the number two seed in this year's Division 3 playoff bracket released on Feb. 8.
Reedley High's basketball teams, meanwhile, drew double-digit seeds in the Division 4 playoff brackets. The Pirate boys (9-16 overall) were seeded 15th, which gave them a first round matchup on Feb. 13 at No. 2 seed Central Valley Christian of Visalia. The RHS girls (14-14) received the No. 14 seed, which meant a first-round matchup Feb. 12 in Hanford against No. 3 Sierra Pacific High. Results of the game were unavailable at press time.
Immanuel (18-8) captured yet another Central Sequoia League championship, but after clinching the title it closed the regular season with road losses against Hanford West and CV Christian. That may have been a factor in the Eagles losing the number one seed to Mt. Whitney (23-5), which had lost to Immanuel, 69-63, in the finals of the Immanuel Tournament of Champions on Dec. 1.
