Immanuel High guard Brooke Hatch drove to the basket in a loss to host Tulare Union on the opening day of the Tulare Holiday Classic on Dec. 27. Hatch was named to the all-tournament team after the Eagles finished with a 2-2 record in the 16-team event.

For the second consecutive tournament, the Immanuel High Eagle girls rebounded from two early losses to post consecutive wins as they look to gain momentum for the resumption of Central Sequoia League basketball play.

The Eagles (5-9) shook off losses to host Tulare Union (55-14) and El Diamante (47-27) on Dec. 27 to defeat Woodlake (46-29 on Dec. 28) and Tulare Western (44-37 on Dec. 29) to finish 13th with a 2-2 record at the Tulare Mid-Winter Showcase Invitational. A week earlier, Immanuel went 2-2 in the Orosi portion of the Dinuba-Orosi Holiday Classic.

Sophomore guard Brooke Hatch scored 18 points against Woodlake and eight points against Tulare Western, following a 13-point effort against El Diamante to earn a berth on the all-tournament team. Hatch scored 10 points in the opening quarter against Woodlake while Laura Schletweitz had eight points as IHS grabbed a 20-4 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

Alegria Pena paced Immanuel against Tulare Western with 12 points while Hatch and Schletewitz had eight each. Allison Dias scored nine points in support of Hatch against El Diamante.
