The Reedley High Pirates boys avenged a loss at the Harold S. Young Classic to the Golden West Trailblazers as part of two non-league soccer victories last week.

The Pirates – 4-2-1 entering a Dec. 10 non-league contest at Orosi (results were unavailable at press time) — bounced back from a 2-0 setback to Golden West on Nov. 30 by routing the Trailblazers 6-0 in Visalia on Dec. 4.

Reedley then prevailed Dec. 6 in a hard-fought home match against rival Sanger, prevailing 1-0 on a goal in the 60th minute by junior Phillip Rico. The Pirates' defense posted two straight shutouts after a 3-1 win over Delano at the Young Classic.

Reedley plays at Kingsburg in a 6 p.m. non-league match on Thursday, Dec. 13 before returning home to take on Bullard in a 5 p.m. start Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Tulare Western tops Pirates

Reedley High's girls soccer team rebounded strong from an opening day loss to reach the finals of the Peggy Renberg Classic at Fresno's Hoover High School. There, the Pirates dropped a 3-1 decision to Tulare Western.
