Defense led the Reedley College women’s basketball team to a big non-conference win over Bakersfield College on Jan. 4 in the Tiger gym.
No Renegade had more than one field goal as the Lady Tigers rolled to a 69-36 win, improving to 8-7 on the season. The BC starters combined to make only 4 of 31 shots from the floor and shot 18 percent as a team.
The Tigers led 18-9 after one quarter and increased the lead to 36-15 at halftime.
In her first action of the season, Zavia Barlow had 17 points to lead the Lady Tigers while Jelani Williford also netted 17 points.
Reedley starts Central Valley Conference play with two road games, facing West Hills Lemoore on Jan. 9 (results unavailable at press time) before a 6 p.m. matchup at Taft College on Saturday, Jan. 12.
Kendricks scores 17 in FPU win
Immanuel High product Nate Kendricks scored 17 points, including three three-point baskets, to help Fresno Pacific to a 71-52 victory over Hawaii Pacific on Jan. 4 at FPU Special Events Center.
Freshman Kendricks made 7 of 9 shots from the field, 3 for 5 from beyond the arc, and added two rebounds along with two assists and two steals. The Sunbirds (6-7, 3-5 conference) completed a season sweep of the Sharks (4-8, 1-6).
Fresno Pacific plays in San Francisco's Kezar Pavilion at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan 12, against the Academy of Art. The Sunbirds return home for two games, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. start on Tuesday, Jan. 15, against Dominican. Then then take on Notre Dame de Namur at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19.
