The Pirates' Clare McGahan (33) worked inside to score in the victory over Fowler. The senior forward made the all-tournament team along with RHS teammates Madison Haney and Miah Paz.

It was a momentous weekend for the Reedley Pirate girls basketball team, which won the program's first tournament title in more than 15 years on a special day for an absentee coach.

All-tournament selection Madison Haney scored 11 points and Abby Delport added nine points as the Pirates (9-7) prevailed in a 43-40 overtime decision over the Fowler Redcats on Jan. 5 in the finals of the Parlier Tournament.

Head coach Matt Wilkinson missed the game as his wife went into labor and delivered the couple's son. Assistant coach Bryan Harman filled in and led the team to the tight victory.

Junior forward Haney was joined on the all-tourney team by freshman guard Miah Paz and senior forward Clare McGahan. Haney scored 16 points in a 64-7 rout of Minarets High on Jan. 3 and added 12 in a 75-21 drubbing of host Parlier on Jan. 4.
