The Reedley High boys soccer team maintained its hold on sole possession of first place in the North Yosemite League with a pair of strong offensive performances at home last week.

The Pirates (13-6-2, 4-0) erupted for three first-half goals and went on to a rainy 4-3 victory over McLane on Jan. 16 at Sal Gonzalez Field. Two nights later, the team rode the strength of two first-half scores to put away visiting Sunnyside High. 3-1.

The latter match was halted by the officials in the 71st minute because of physical play.

On Jan. 23, Reedley traveled to Fresno to play Hoover High, then hosts Roosevelt in the second round of league play at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25.

Reedley High rolled into a Jan. 22 showdown for first place in the NYL against Hoover on the momentum of two shutout victories on the road in league play last week.
